Can a thrashed and neglected Brooks bicycle saddle be revived? Well, at least the leather can. Here’s a before and after of an old seat that was on a bicycle I bought at Goodwill. The leather was dry and cracked, appearing to be so brittle as almost unusable for fear of eventual tearing. After a single application of Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP Leather Preservative, the leather is supple and soft, healthy looking and ready to ride. Although I’ll be selling this saddle rather than riding it, I am very pleased with how it cleaned up. Keep an eye out for a future post in which I’ll document treatment of many of my favorite leather belongings with this fantastic leather preservative. Besides their site, you can also buy it here.
